Brochures - Perfect binding (Sewn with thread / glued)

Sewn with thread brochures are designed for long-term and intensive use.

Sewn with Thread Perfect Binding Provides a Durable and Reliable Binding for Important Publications!

Sewn with thread is a technological operation where the correctly aligned book block is bound into a complete publication. The sewing machine stitches the aligned book block using synthetic thread.

This is followed by the broshuring process, where the binding machine applies hot glue (Hotmelt) to the spine of the book block, while simultaneously folding the cover (4x) and pressing them together. The brochure is then trimmed on three sides to the final format.

The advantage of binding with thread stitching is the durability and longevity of the brochure, as the pages are securely held and cannot fall out. This makes it ideal for long-lasting products that are frequently used and opened.

Technically, the brochure consists of two parts: the book block (content, insert, interior) and the cover (front and back). The book block is printed in the correct order on paper ranging from 90-170 g/m², and the cover is printed on thicker paper or cardboard (300 g/m²), which is then laminated on the outside. Due to the flexible cover, this binding method is also called soft binding.

The preparation of the brochure for printing requires precise planning and preparation to ensure that the final product looks professional and functional. Every step in the brochure design process requires attention to detail and strategic thinking. To determine the purpose and target audience, think carefully about what you want to achieve with your brochure printing.

With thorough planning and quality execution, you can create an effective and appealing brochure. So, gather all the necessary information you want to include in the brochure. Choose the appropriate graphic design software (we recommend Adobe InDesign) to facilitate the design and layout of the brochure and organize the content logically and visually attractively.

Brochures are usually printed in standard formats, most commonly A4 or A5, though the 165x235 mm brochure size is also quite popular.
Brochures can be printed in color or black and white. There is also an option for Hi-res black-and-white printing, which is a suitable choice for brochures dominated by photographs or more complex graphics.

Once the brochure is designed, the printing process follows. Before that, it is necessary to determine the type of paper on which the brochure will be printed. You can choose between standard coated or uncoated paper, 100% recycled paper, or specialty creative papers. Each of these paper types for the book block comes in various weights, from 80-170 g/m².

Once the paper choice for the book block is defined, the next step is selecting the cover or jacket, which is made from thicker cardboard (300 g/m²). Typically, the paper type for the book block and the cover is the same, meaning both the book block and the cover are made from the same material.

Since brochures are often in use, the cover needs to be protected with a laminate, available in matte, glossy, or premium soft-touch and anti-scratch finishes. The latter is especially suitable for laminating covers printed with darker colors.

We also highlight the option of enhancing the brochure cover. You can choose a print with relief spot varnish (3D UV Spot) or digital hot stamping with metallic foil in gold or silver. 3D effects not only look great, but they also improve the tactile experience, which can increase interaction with the product. This is especially important in the luxury product segment.

Brochures bound with thread stitching are highly durable, ensuring long-term use. They are valued for their reliability and quality, making them an ideal choice for important publications, such as literary works, art books, and academic publications!
