Notebooks - Soft cover (Wire-o binding)

Spiral binding is suitable for documents such as textbooks, workbooks, manuals, recipe books, and presentation materials.

Spiral Binding is a Popular Method for Binding Printed Pages into a Booklet, Allowing Easy and Complete Opening!

Spiral binding, also known as Wire-O binding, is a simple and fast binding process where the book block is punched along the edges and a metal spiral is inserted into the holes, creating a sturdy booklet.

The biggest advantage of spiral binding is the 360° opening of the pages, which is especially useful for yearbooks, notebooks, reports, and other documents where easy handling and flipping of pages are important. The advantage of spiral binding is also that it allows the document to be fully opened and laid flat on a surface.

Spiral binding is suitable for publications ranging from 4 to 240 pages (2 to 120 sheets), with the spine thickness not exceeding 22 mm.

Yearbooks with a soft cover can be printed in various standard formats, in color or black and white, with the option of Hi-res black and white printing, which is ideal for publications with photos or more complex graphics.

Preparing a yearbook for printing requires careful planning and preparation to ensure that the final product looks professional and functional. Every step in the design process requires attention to detail and strategic thinking.

Choose the appropriate graphic design software (we recommend Adobe InDesign) to help you design and layout the yearbook and organize the content logically and visually appealing.

When designing for full-bleed printing, don’t forget the required 3 mm bleed area for trimming, and the safe margin area should be at least 5 mm, preferably 10 mm, with a minimum of 15-20 mm margin around the spiral area!
Once the yearbook is designed, the next step is the printing of the yearbooks. Before this, the type of paper for printing the yearbook must be determined. You can choose from standard coated or uncoated papers, or if you are environmentally conscious, 100% recycled paper is also available.

Once the type of paper for printing the book block is defined, the next step is selecting the cover, which is made from thicker cardboard (300 g/m2). Typically, the type of paper used for both the book block and cover is the same material. Next, you choose the color of the metal spiral, which can be white, black, or silver.

Since yearbooks are frequently used, the cover must be protected with a lamination film, available in matte, gloss, premium soft-touch, or anti-scratch finishes. The latter is especially suitable for lamination of covers printed in darker colors.

We would also like to highlight the option for cover embellishments. You can choose printing with transparent relief varnish (3D UV Spot) or digital foil stamping in gold or silver. 3D effects not only look great, but also improve the tactile feel, enhancing the interaction with the product. This is especially important in the luxury product segment.

Spiral binding is a popular choice due to its functionality and adaptability in educational institutions, business environments, and for personal use, especially where ease of use and access to content is essential.
