Thread-sewn binding is one of the most durable types of soft binding and is ideal for publications that are frequently used. It is commonly used for manuals, workbooks, professional books, catalogues and larger brochures.
The main advantage of this binding is its exceptional strength and long lifespan. Individual pages are mechanically stitched together, preventing them from loosening and ensuring reliable use even with frequent handling.
The production process involves machine folding printed sheets into signatures (typically 16 pages), which are then sewn together with thread. These signatures are assembled in sequence, bound into a book block and glued into a cover made from thicker material. The final step is precise trimming to the finished format.
Benefits of thread-sewn binding:
This type of binding is suitable for publications from approximately 32 to 800 pages, with a maximum spine thickness of around 50 mm. The total number of pages must always be divisible by 4.
Thread-sewn brochures are printed in standard formats, in colour or black and white. A high-resolution black-and-white print option is also available, ideal for publications with many images or detailed graphics.
