Hot Foil printing is a process in which a metallic foil is applied to paper using a die under high pressure and temperature. The result is a precise, shiny and premium graphic element that gives the business card a distinctly elegant appearance. A wide range of foils is available – from gold, silver and bronze to various colors such as blue, red or purple. The most commonly used are metallic finishes, also known as foil stamping. Unlike blind embossing, hot foil printing does not leave an imprint on the back side, allowing for single- or double-sided business cards. It can be applied to standard, recycled or creative papers, while lamination is recommended only for smooth materials.
If you choose this type of finishing, we recommend combinations that always deliver a premium result. The first is the use of creative paper (e.g. textured white paper) combined with gold or copper metallic foil, enhancing prestige and elegance. The second option is a combination of embossing and hot foil printing of a selected element (e.g. logo) together with Soft-Touch lamination, adding a unique tactile feel. Unlike digital techniques, this process requires the production of a tool (die), which is used under high temperature and pressure to apply metallic foil or create a relief impression.
