Self-adhesive food labels are used for packaging such as plastic containers, vacuum-packed products, meat and dairy items, bakery products and delicatessen goods. Key requirements include regulatory compliance, resistance to grease and moisture, and long-term readability.
Since food products are often exposed to refrigeration, freezing or contact with moisture and fats, labels must remain mechanically stable and resistant to demanding storage conditions.
Cheese, meat products and ready meals may expose labels to grease or moisture. Synthetic materials (PP, PET) with protective coating are recommended.
What material is suitable for greasy or moist food products? For products containing fats or stored under refrigeration, synthetic materials with varnish or lamination are recommended.
Products stored at low temperatures require special adhesives. Deep-freeze adhesives provide reliable adhesion even below 0 °C.
Can labels withstand freezing? With the correct material and adhesive selection, stable adhesion in freezer conditions is achievable.
Retail and production environments often require additional printing of variable data such as weight, price or packaging date. Materials suitable for thermal transfer (TTR) printing are recommended.
Is post-print variable data possible? Yes. Labels can be prepared for thermal or thermal transfer overprinting.
Food labels must include mandatory information (ingredients, allergens, nutritional values, expiry date, batch number). Digital printing enables easy adaptation for export markets or different language versions.
Can declarations be adapted for different markets? Yes. Digital technology allows multiple language or content versions within the same production run.
