Self-adhesive labels for jars are designed for food products such as jams, honey, sauces, spreads, preserved vegetables and other goods in glass packaging. These products require a combination of visual appeal, moisture resistance and regulatory compliance.
Since jars are often stored in refrigerators or exposed to humidity during transport, labels must remain mechanically stable, colorfast and securely adhered throughout the product lifecycle.
Certain food products may undergo thermal stress such as pasteurization or hot filling. In such cases, synthetic materials (PP, PET) or special adhesives are recommended to maintain adhesion even after cooling.
Can labels withstand pasteurization or hot filling? With the correct material and adhesive selection, labels can remain stable under elevated temperatures. It is important to define the filling temperature before production.
Glass surfaces are smooth and non-porous, requiring adhesives with strong initial tack. Permanent adhesives resistant to moisture and temperature fluctuations are recommended.
What adhesive is suitable for honey or jam jars? For products stored at room temperature or refrigerated, permanent adhesives with moisture resistance are recommended.
Jar labels can consist of a front visual label and a separate back declaration with mandatory information (ingredients, nutritional values, expiry date, batch number). Digital printing enables variable data within the same run.
Is it possible to print small batches with different flavors? Yes. Digital printing allows multiple design versions within one production run without additional tooling costs.
For artisan and craft products, labels play a key role in brand positioning. Textured or natural papers and matte or gloss finishes are available.
